BHAKTAPUR; Speakers at the inaugural session of Newa: Rastriya Political Conference in Bhaktapur today warned of stern action if the government failed to guarantee Newa state as an autonomous one.
The two-day conference is organised by Newa: Autonomous Rajya Manka Struggle Committee at Bhaktapur Durbar Square.
Venting ire at the report prepared by CA committee for restructuring and determining states and governance system about on Newa state, the speakers at the conference claimed that Kathmandu only was not a Newa state and it cannot be so.
Chairman of Nepa: Rastriya Party, Kesavman Shakya, argued that it was wrong to define Kathmandu Valley alone as Newa state.
CPN-UML standing committee member Siddhilal Singh accused alleged that ‘so-called Bahuns and Kshetris were dominating and marginalising the indigenous Newar people of Kathmandu Valley ever since late Prithvi Narayan Shah occupied it’.
Nepali Congress CA member Tirthman Dangol warned of stern protest if the government did not guarantee a separate Newa state in the new statute. Six hundred representatives from the Newar community from across the country are participating in the conference.
Narendrabhakta Hada, coordinator, Newa Autonomous Manka Struggle Committee, said the closed-door session, that began today, would continue till Saturday at Thimi-based Agriculture Training Centre.

भक्तपुर, मङ्सिर १७- पूर्व सांसद पद्मरत्न तुलाधरले नेवार समुदाय उपत्यकाबाट बिस्थापित हुने अवस्था आएका कारण अग्राधिकारसहितको नेवा: स्वायत्त प्रदेश गठन हुनुपर्ने बताएका छन्। जसमा नेवार समुदायले आफ्नो शैलीअनुसार राज्य सञ्चालन गर्ने र अन्य समुदाय पनि मिलेर बस्न सक्ने उनको भनाइ थियो।
माओवादी सभासद सत्यलाल मुलले भने अग्राधिकारसहितको स्वायत्त प्रदेश उपत्यकाका नेवार समुदायलाई मात्र राम्रो हुने भनाइ राखे। उनले उपत्यकाबाहिरका नेवार समुदायलाइ समेत समेट्न समान अधिकारयुक्त नेवा: स्वायत्त प्रदेश हुनुपर्ने तर्क राखे। अग्राधिकारसहितको नेवा: स्वायत राज्यमा नेवारमात्र अघि आउने र अरु विस्थापित हुने सोच हाबी हुने भएकाले समान अधिकारयुक्त प्रदेश राम्रो हुने भनाइ पनि उनले राखे।
यहाँ जारी नेवा: राष्ट्रिय राजनीतिक सम्मेलनका क्रममा उनीहरुले यस्तो भनाइ राखेका हुन। भक्तपुर दरबार क्षेत्रमा सुरु भएको यो सम्मेलन दुई दिन चल्नेछ। सम्मलेन नेवार स्वायत्त राज्यको विषयमा केन्द्रित हुने जानकारी आयोजकले दिएका छन्। नेवा: स्वायत्त राज्य संयुक्त सङ्घर्ष समितिले आयोजना गरेको सम्मेलनमा देशभरका ७० भन्दा बढी जिल्लाबाट नेवार समुदायको सहभागिता छ।
